6th Grade has been exploring personal narratives from a new perspective. In the past, the brainstorming and idea generating strategy that was most often used was:
Think of people, places and things that matter to you, then list clear small moments that you remember about each. Choose one to sketch and write an accompanying narrative.
This year, we started with this strategy but are now exploring other topics. Yesterday, we thought about significant "first times" and "last times" in our lives. Today, 6th graders, we are exploring specific emotions. In class today, we will brainstorm various emotions that we experience on regular basis. Students will then choose a few that stand out to them and list specific memories that are associated with each emotion.
For your homework, 6th graders, please first become a follower of this blog and then write a comment on this post. Take one memory from your brainstorming session today and write three paragraphs that describe this memory and more specifically the strong emotion that you were feeling at the time. I look forward to reading your posts!
scarred!,
ReplyDeleteone day i was at my friends house and we went out side and we were playing and we literly heard a gun shot by jp
excited and curious...
ReplyDeleteit was christmas morning and i was sitting in front of the tree with my family, sipping hot chocolate and opening gifts.
"okay zoe," my mom told me " now you can open the 'mysterious present that must be last' as you call it"
i tried to be patient as i slowly, gently tore the red glittery wrapping paper. i couldn't hold it any longer! i ripped off the remaining paper scraps and there it was...my new ipod!
Three... two...ONE! As the buzzer went off everybody on the whole MSS basketball team felt as if they had accomplished something. The last seeded mss team had beaten the 2nd seed stevens team. Stevens was only made up of only 6th graders they had lost only one game the entire season.
ReplyDeleteMSS on the other hand had only 2 more wins than loses the whole season. But we had worked as a team and had won by more than 10 points. We had won all our playoff games by an average of 12 points.
We had all felt a sense of accomplishment wether we were a vetren or an rookie we had had overcome the odds and won the Hoboken Biddy Basketball semifinals.
Completely Freaked Out
ReplyDeleteI was riding home on my bike from the pool, as I do every single day during summer. My beach towel was looped around my handlebars.
I was speeding down a hill when my towel fell from my handlebars and dragged down towards my front wheel. It got caught and since it prevented the front wheel from turning, the back wheel lifted up and I was vaulted face-first towards the ground.
My top lip was bleeding like crazy. I stood up and a man from the house I was in front of walked out. He was very nice and gave me some cream for my lip.
I finally got home, but from then on for a couple months I had a big bruise/scab on my lip =(
Excited....
ReplyDeleteit was this summer, and i was in line for a water slide ride. it was a really high water slide, and when it was my turn i was really excited. it was fun feeling the wind in my face and the water splash in my eyes.
it was AWESOME!
Happy and Rejoceful
ReplyDeleteCrack!!! The ball soared over the second baseman's head, one run scored, the runner from third is coming home, the throw to the plate, SAFE!!! That two RBI single put our team ahead by one, (by the way, I hit that). We scored again in the fourth to make it 4-1 us.
Then, in the bottom of the fifth, opposing team batting, man on second, best batter up Crack!!! It's driven deep, very deep , it's a HOMERUN!!! Two run homerun! Now it's 4-3 us.
They shut us out in the top if the sixth. It's the bottom of the sixth... we'er up by one... Our pitcher strikes out the first batter. Crack!!! It's a grounder to second, easy play. Crack!! It's hit through the middle, a two out single. The next batters up. The pitch, strike one, the next pitch, strike two. We need one more strike, the pitch, ball one, then, ball two. Then, STRIKE THREE!!!! WE WON, WE WON, WE WON!!!! We'er going to the semifinals! Everybody was cheering. It felt really good.
