6th Graders are in the middle of drafting their final writing assignment: A Book Review!
At the start of this unit, we spent one class brainstorming what an effective book review might include. Here are some of the sixth graders thoughts:
An effective book review would include:
-criticism: your opinion of the novel with solid evidence
- an entertaining and authentic writing voice (the critic's writing voice, personality, life is shown)
-quotes from other critics
-a "taste" of what the book is like- quotes, brief summary, description of story elements
-a rating of the book with evidence
-research (ie) how many copies have been sold?, what feed back have others given on this book?
-other books that your audience may like
We are hoping to publish our reviews on a website and present to a younger audience on June 10th!
