Dear Parents,
Its hard to believe that there are just two short weeks before Thanksgiving Break and the end of Fall Term.
Here are a few highlights of the next couple of weeks:
-Tomorrow Afternoon-
Sol Rosenkranz, a speaker from the Museum of Jewish Heritage will be speaking to our students about his experiences during World War II. Mr. Rosenkranz was transported to six different concentration camps, including Buchenwald (where Elie Wiesel was also held) and Terezin. He will bring his unique insight to our students as they continue to study the events of World War II in Europe. Parents may want to attend this as well and are warmly invited to come.
-Compare/Contrast Essay-
Sixth graders have gone through the brainstorming and prewriting stages of writing a compare and contrast essay. Tomorrow they will begin their first drafts. This is excellent practice for their seventh and eighth grade years. It will also tie in well to the 7th and 8th art exhibitions (a comparison of two different paintings) that they will be viewing on November 17th and 18th.
-Literature Study- The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
Sixth graders are reading this novel and making numerous connections with their Social Studies unit on World War II.
