On Monday and Tuesday, each sixth grader visited the fourth or fifth grade to present final projects. Each student was assigned to write a book review and create a self reflection. Each student presented by starting off with giving a book talk on the memoir that he or she wrote about, and then spent some time reflecting on one main lesson from their sixth grade year. Every student was reflective and thoughtful. Their self reflections ranged from creative writing, to collage creation, to painting and we even had one student create a rap.
Some fifth graders responded to what they heard from these presentations:
-"What I've heard is that at the beginning of the year, you will be nervous, but you will feel better."
-"It seems that sixth grade will eventually get fun. (maybe)"
-"Sixth grade was hard for most in the beginning, but it got much easier as the year progressed. Some did not like teams at the beginning of the year, but now they like it."
-"Be Brave."
-"It got chaotic but they are ending strong. They said it's fine and you'll be fine..."
-"Be yourself!"
-"It is harder than fifth grade, but you find it naturally gets better and you will go with the flow."
Thank you, sixth graders, for such a strong end to Language Arts this year! Students will be taking home writing and artwork from this year on Thursday afternoon.
