In 6th grade students are learning about the intricacies of fractions. What are they, how can they be reduced and what do equivalent fractions mean? Students are also learning to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions. With all of this students will discover what common denominators are and how to find the greatest common factors. All of this new knowledge will be applied at the end of the chapter to word problems.
On top of all this, students are working on their I Love Math Day questions which incorporate arithmetic, algebra and logic. So far students have turned in some outstanding work that demonstrate their ability to clearly and accurately solve complex math problems.
